Let’s face it: it’s nearly impossible to plan exciting things to do with your visiting parents. But never fear, we at Slope HQ have some ideas on how to make the most of their visit!
1) Wegmans

Finally! A much-needed trip to the supermarket with the people who have been buying you food your whole life. And my parents always seem to know exactly what I want (yes, mom and dad, I really do think I need brie).
2) Ithaca Phone Repair

So you dropped your phone somewhere between the TCAT bus stop and CTP. A wonderful Parents’ Weekend activity is getting your phone fixed! They understand the importance of a phone and why it is essential that you get a new screen.
3) Target

Well isn’t this your lucky day? Target is in the same mall as the Ithaca Phone Repair! So while you’re waiting for your phone to be fixed, you can run on over to Target and purchase everything you’ve been scraping by without (read: toilet paper).
4) Ithaca’s Farmer’s Market

This one’s on you. Buy your parents some organic honey to take home and enjoy some delicious treats from the Farmer’s Market.
5) Go Hiking

Show your parents the beauty of Ithaca so they can see how wonderful this place truly is (just make sure to go in the fall or spring). Yeah, our school is pretty stunning.
6) The Commons

For some reason, I am obsessed with this one stationery store in the Commons called Mockingbird Paperie. I’m sure we all have a treasured place we’d love to show our parents. And what’s a trip to the Commons without a visit to Urban Outfitters? (“You guys don’t understand, this is the ONLY cute store here.”)
7) Statler Brunch

Delicious. Tasty. Fancy. Why wouldn’t you go to Statler with your parents?
8) Science Center

Embrace your inner child and show your mom and dad one of our most exciting attractions. You can all learn a little something and mark it off of your 161 Things to Do list!
9) Cornell Tour

Because your parents miss touring colleges with you. And asking loud, unnecessary questions.
10) Sleep In Your Parent’s Room

After a busy day of exploring Cornell, you can finally close your eyes in a comfortable, queen-sized bed. Goodnight.
