12 Ways to Pass the Time Between Classes

Author: Virginia Norder

Here at Cornell, students typically use time between classes to get a snack, grab lunch, use the restroom, stop by office hours, or chat with friends. But Cornelians are missing out on an abundance of between-classtime-fillers. No worries, we’re here to fill you in. So next time you have time to kill…

1. Go check out the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art. The museum offers great art and great views.

2. Head to the Wilder Brain Collection – a collection of human brains maintained by the Cornell University Department of Psychology.  Part of it is on display in Uris Hall.  Brains on display include those of several notable individuals:

  • Helen Hamilton Gardener, a suffragist who intended to prove the equality of the sexes Edward H. Rulloff, a philologist and murderer who possessed one of the largest brains ever recorded
  • Edward B. Titchener, a 19th and 20th century psychologist
  • Henry August Ward, naturalist
  • Simon Henry Gage, naturalist, histologist, and microscopist
  • Burt Green Wilder, Cornell professor of psychology and founder of the brain collection. Wilder also served as a surgeon with the 55th Massachusetts Regiment during the American Civil War
