When the announcement of Carly Rae Jepsen’s on-campus show hit social media, everyone was taken back to 2012, when the world was ruled by “Call Me Maybe.” The infectious beat was everywhere, and between the infinite radio play and the countless Youtube videos made it became very old very quickly.
While I still appreciate a good dance to the song that shall not be named, in honor of Carly coming to Cornell it’s time to explore some of her other music. Though “Call Me Maybe” is what she is known for, here are four other songs that you can sing along to come Sunday night:
1. “Warm Blood”

Unlike her typical upbeat pop, “Warm Blood” takes on a more sultry sound adding much greater depth to her music. The shadowy background track, produced by Vampire Weekend bandmember Rostam Batmanglij, has an addicting electric beat with Carly’s vocals adding to a catchy chorus.
Perfect For: A chill Sunday evening as you are trying to get work done.
2. “I Didn’t Just Come Here to Dance”

Mixing a ‘90s house vibe with a modern twist, this song is just the right amount of pop without being annoying. You’ll be singing along with the chorus all the way to the drop, and then you’ll be dancing it out along with Carly.
Perfect For: Getting ready before a night of going out.
3. “I Really Like You”

Probably the most “Call Me Maybe”-esque song Carly has come out with, you’ll have a really, really hard time not singing along to the repetitive chorus (she says the word “really” 67 times). This is the bubblegum pop that you are used to from Carly, but no one is saying that’s a bad thing. Bonus: check out the music video featuring a lip syncing Tom Hanks cameo.
Perfect For: Blasting in the car as you and friends sing as loud as you can.
4. “Beautiful”

Many are unaware of this track from her first album featuring Justin Bieber, which is surprising considering a Bieber tweet of support for the singer is what helped propel her popularity. This song is a lot slower than the rest of her sugary pop tracks, and is a nice acoustic change of pace.
Perfect For: Thinking about your new bae <3.
So check out these lesser known songs before you hit up the show on Sunday, and be honest with yourself: you are secretly really excited for “Call Me Maybe”.
