As we make our way into November, it is time to take out your heavy-duty jackets and say goodbye to any form of green shrubbery– because winter is here. Since the winter comprises the majority of your time at Cornell, it may be hard to think of creative ways to keep warm. Here are some ways to tolerate this winter that you might just be excited about. Farewell shivering, hello coziness!
1Bundle up in layers

It seems obvious, but bundling up can really make your walk to class a whole lot more manageable. Your friend who claims he “isn’t cold” and wears shorts in the snow is probably the one who gave you the flu. Now you can either layer like it’s nobody’s business, long underwear, ski masks and all or try to look trendy in your layering. 3 layers minimum suggested (shirt, sweater/sweatshirt, coat) and turtle-necks are actually cool now so don’t worry about looking like a grandma.
2Take a hot yoga class

Stepping into a heated room in 30-degree weather feels like heaven. Take a hot yoga class at Blackbird Studio in Downtown Ithaca for an invigorating workout to raise that body temp. Hot yoga has many health benefits like eliminating your body of toxins while toning your body for when it comes out of hiding in the spring. 3Cuddle!

There’s nothing cozier than cuddling with your friend or S.O.!! Research on the benefits of cuddling through the brain’s release of oxytocin and dopamine includes relieving stress, increasing libido and improving communication. Check out this link for some new cuddling positions to switch it up. Fan favorites include the “Baby Koala” and the “Titanic Tangle”.
4Treat yourself to a warm beverage

The first day of November, Starbucks released this year’s holiday cup in all its seasonal cheer. Keep warm with Starbucks’ holiday beverages, including Gingerbread Latte, Eggnog Latte and Peppermint Mocha. What better to get you in the holiday spirit and warm your tongue and your hands at the same time?
5Soup hop around campus

Cornell does not have a shortage of soups (only sun). Soup can warm you up on the chilliest winter days. Spice up your lunch option (and the flavor of your meal) by trying soup at each of Cornell’s eateries and dining halls. Compete with your friends for how many you can go to! Or just go to whichever café is closest to your class because it’s freezing. Temple of Zeus is highly recommended and they post their soups on Facebook daily. Macs, Trillium, and CTB also have a variety of options.
Although you probably won’t pretend you’re Elsa and frolic in the snow, hopefully these pointers will lesson your winter nightmares in the coming season!
