If you’ve seen cabs running around Collegetown with little flags waving from the windows, then you’re probably already aware that RedRoute has taken over the Cornell transportation experience. RedRoute is a ride hailing platform that is working in partnership with Ithaca Dispatch, the largest transportation operator in the city, to provide easy and enjoyable rides in a more student-friendly way. If you haven’t already downloaded the app, here’s 7 reasons why you should:
1It was started by Cornell students.

Nothing says school spirit like supporting some fellow students on an impressive entrepreneurial venture. Go Big Red!
2Every other Cornellian has it.

Since its launch last semester, RedRoute has quickly become hugely popular amongst the student body, there’s a reason why. It’s useful and it’s fun, so don’t be a rebel.
3We have all had the idea, but they actually made it happen.

Many of us, including myself, have longed for a more practical solution like Uber for getting home safely at night. RedRoute makes getting around C-town and Ithaca 10X easier!
4 Customer music in vehicles.

RedRoute hooks you up with AUX/Bluetooth capability in all their vehicles. The biggest buzzkill of your night just got solved.
5 You can input a credit card.

No more hazy fumbling for cash or lugging a heavy wallet around.
6 It’s useful.

There’s no way around this one. We are just happier people now that it’s so easy and reliable to get a ride.
7 It’s about to get 10X better.

RedRoute’s founders have hinted towards a big feature release at some point this Fall. It’s said to include ways for users to “explore” their surrounding area and see real-time information on places that are “trending” for them (aka where a lot of their friends are). I’m not sure I’ve wrapped my head around it yet, but it sounds cool!
