Take it from a girl who’s been gluten free for over 10 years: the diet may be hard initially, but your dietary restrictions could be worse. While there are the “gluten-free” labels on many foods at Cornell, there are also non-advertised options to satisfy your cravings. Here are 8 underrated ways to eat gluten-free at Cornell:

1Bring on the Burritos!

Do you miss Chipotle’s allergy protocol but lack the car to go there yourself? No worries–Terrace has you covered. At the “Wrap” station, you can ask for a burrito bowl and have your choice of meat over rice, guacamole, and your other favorite Mexican toppings.

2No Faux Pho

Another Terrace treat: did you know that their rice noodles are gluten free? That’s right! Head on over and feel completely “normal” as you stand in line and wait for your delicious Pho Bo soup.

3Pasta Party

Does your mouth start to water as you watch your friends devour huge make-your-own-pasta dishes at Trillium? Join in the fun! Trillium offers gluten free pasta daily, as well as the occasional gluten-free ravioli. Add your choice of sauce and toppings.

4Need a Ba(e)gel?

Everyone knows CTB offers a wide variety of gluten free options on safe bread, bagels, and wraps. Did you know Mandibles has those options as well? Don’t schlep all the way to Collegetown for a gluten-free bagel when you can have one on campus…just remember “real” money since Mandibles doesn’t take BRBs.

5All fro you!

Don’t throw a pity-party at RPCC just because you can’t have those gluten-ous desserts at the official dessert bar. There are plenty of ways to satisfy your gluten-free sweet tooth. For example, create an ice cream sundae with a safe hard flavor or the naturally gluten-free frozen yogurt and add all the toppings you like. You could even skip the sundae and head straight for the candy!

6Want to pretend you don’t have to worry?

Go. To. Risley. EVERYTHING there is gluten free! Feel free to nibble on literally anything throughout the dining hall. Be sure to try foods from multiple stations so you take advantage of your “normalcy” for the night. No one will ask you why you’re eating gluten free here.

7Fine, Fresh, Fit

If you’re near the Ag Quad on Thursdays, check out the Cornell Farmer’s Market for lunch! While some featured items such as donuts and fresh bread aren’t safe, there is usually at least one station that is 100% gluten-free, from Indian buffets to quinoa samples. Of course, try the fresh fruit and veggies picked that morning as well.

8Roll with it
