Big Red Dictionary

According to BuzzFeed, there have been 150 new words added to Dictionary.com’s website. Words such as ‘fleek,’ ‘yaaas’ and ‘bestie’ have all been determined to be real words. So, Slope Media has developed a list of words that we believe should be added to all dictionaries – especially those found at Cornell.

noun

A form of communication in which multiple members belong to a ‘group,’ and pointless messages are constantly sent, to the dismay of everyone involved.

The action of sprinting down the street in order to catch a bus  to punctually arrive to class.

Prelim

noun

A curse in which students do not just take a singular midterm, but instead take two or three. Legend has it, professors curse students with prelims as punishment for falling asleep during class.

Where students duck for shelter when it’s 2am and pouring, and the TCAT (see above) is late.

The process of ordering the greasiest food available in order to satisfy all your food cravings. Mostly populated by freshmen between the hours of 12:30 and 3am.

The act of taking a video or photo and sharing it with all other Ivy Leaguers in order to prove that you go to the best Ivy.

Now that we have established some of the most important Cornell vocabulary, we hope to hear you applying this terminology to your daily conversation even more often. And let’s hope that the next time more words are added to the dictionary, these are included as well.
