A Great Performance to Come

One of the most highly anticipated concerts of the year is hitting Cornell University this weekend--Kid Cudi. Best known for his ability to mesh the alternative hip hop sounds of such pioneers as A Tribe Called Quest and Geto Boyz with a new age sound, this genre-blending rap artist has gained success by appealing to the masses with his various collaborations. No wonder Cornell students rushed to purchase their Kid Cudi tickets October 14th, with the tickets selling out within a matter of hours. Kid Cudi is most prominently known for his hit single "Day N' Night" released from his debut album Man on the Moon (2009) and "Make Her Say" which were both nominated for Grammy's in 2009. Kid Cudi will bring his exciting and charismatic performance skills to Cornell on November 6th, days before the November 9th release of his second album, Man on the Moon II : The Legend of Mr. Rager. Fans are anxious to see whether Cudi's unique style will continue to be adored and accepted by those who view his music as new and innovative. The album is distributed into 5 "Acts" each consisting of 2-4 tracks. It features a variety of artists including Mary J. Blige and Cee Lo as well as a multitude of producers. As an up and coming hip hop artist, one of the most important factors is producing a favorable sophomore album. His first single of the new album, "Erase Me", featuring Kanye West, comprises of Cudi and West swapping lines about gettin played by their ex-girlfriends and is another hip-hop rock collaboration. This weekend, Cudi is sure to bring the audience their favorites from his freshman album, as well as some new sounds to vibe to from the upcoming album. Recently added to the show as the opening act, Cee- Lo Green, a former member of Gnarles Barkley.
