EPISODE 8:
Congratulations, folks! You’ve made it to the last week of classes. Now here’s hoping you manage to get through it.
The last week of classes can notoriously be one of the most stressful. And with all of the last minute assignments, essays, and SURPRISE we’re adding another reading to the final…it’s enough to drive you a little bit batty. Batty enough to wish violence upon your professor/TA/lecturer even.

EPISODE 7:
Laura has a story.
She was pretty secretive in high school: was quiet, kept to herself, was involved in art. No-one really knew a lot about her. So naturally when she was in her senior year she didn’t go around broadcasting what schools she had applied to or where she had been accepted or what school she had decided on. (It was Cornell, obvi.)
So, when her Creative Writing teacher asks if anyone in the class is Cornell-bound in the fall, it’s the first time she lets fly to a group of more than 5 people where she’s headed. Well the next thing out of her teacher’s mouth is “Have you heard about the suicides?”/
We feel that we can assert with 95% confidence that between 89% and 97% of you have been asked a similar questions (Laura has a statistics exam on Thursday, can you tell?). It’s a Cornell cliche.
We also feel we can say with certainty that the majority of you have felt the ubiquitous stress that propagates the rumor.
That being said, in honor of all of you with Hell Weeks out there, who feel like they’re going to go crazy either from lack of sleep or by getting too wrapped up in your metaphysics paper or maybe spending too much time in an enclosed room with the fumes of model glue, we have devoted this week’s playlists to songs about insanity, be it temporary or something a bit more severe.

EPISODE 6:
Girls: Have you ever listened to those Rap songs with lyrics such as: ‘..and from the 8 ball my breath starts stinking. I gotta get my girl to rock that body, before I left I hit the bacardi. Pulled to the house, get her out of the pad, then the bitch said something to make me mad…’ And been disgusted? Shaking your head in the name of feminism and yelling out ‘NO I WILL NOT BE A VICTIM OF MALE CHAUVINISM!’
Guys: Have you heard your little sister/big sister/single love-lorn aunt listen to broken heart ballads professing how ” my clothes have never fit better, my laugh’s never been better…I look so good, I look so good without you.” And beleagured the fact that men are given such a bad rap?
Gender differences are pervasive. And we’re not just talking in anatomical terms here…

EPISODE 5:
What a twist of fate…..the same night that Laura and Grace had planned to do a show dedicated to foreign music, Grace finds out that she was accepted into her study abroad program.
How about that?

EPISODE 4:
Have you ever had a conversation with someone where you think that you are talking about the same thing, but it turns out that you’re not?
Well, Laura and Grace have when it comes to songs.
Whether it be Heartbeats by the Knife or Jose Gonzales (both are Swedish b.t.dubs-who knew?). Or else that the version of “Death” by White Lies you thought you knew so well turned out to be a remix of the original by Crystal Castles.
To illustrate this phenomenon, the DJs compiled a playlist of some stellar covers and remixes, guaranteed to make you listen to an old favorite with a fresh set of ears.

[Okay, we cheated on that last one. We just wanted to play it last week but didn't have time thus stuck it in on the end here. We broke theme, forgive us.]

EPISODE 3:
In the midst of dual hell-weeks, Laura and Grace prepared a set of their favorite love songs.
Maybe with the idea that misery loves company.
Maybe in order to restore some of their faith and hope in a happily-ever-after.
Maybe they were just obsessed with the song “All is Love” from the Where the Wild Things Are soundtrack. (Okay, maybe that was just Laura)
I guess we’ll never know.

EPISODE 2:
As fall break approaches, the DJs dedicate their second episode to the completion of all their pre-break prelimes, the joys of having your dad be a school speaker, and finding out you can’t pre-enroll for spring classes if you’re a junior without a major!
