How my video made sportsillustrated.com

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

OK, I never write facebook notes but this is just too wild, thanks to Topher Scott who tipped me off and the Amazing hockey team we made the front page of sportsillustrated.com

which is pretty wild that link takes you to their “si on campus blog”

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/sioncampus/04/14/campus.clicks0414/index.html
which has the quote….

“Our plan was to lead with an item congratulating Boston College for winning the Frozen Four, but then we came across this mind-blowing video of the Cornell hockey team doing a locker room rendition of ‘N Sync’s Bye, Bye, Bye. We apologize to BC fans, but this is much more exciting.”

The video was also picked up by 3 other blogs:
* IVYGATE:http://www.ivygateblog.com/blog/2008/04/cornell_mens_hockey_team_extremely_comfortable_with_its_sexuality.html
* Kitch Magazine: http://blogs.kitschmag.com/watch/2008/04/07/hockey-bros-showcase-dance-skills-abs/
* MetaEzra: Cornell hockey team demonstrates their skills off the ice

the original link to the video: http://backup.slopemedia.org/media/content.php?t=Cornell-Hockey-Sings-Nsync-video-4-Prom

** a little note about the video, the video was a promo video for the senior prom, the next video should be out by Sunday, and in the coming weeks, there are a couple of surprises in store for more guest appearances the website for cornell’s senior prom is: http://duffball.blogspot.com, check out the ad in the sun on tuesday, tickets go on sale this week.

*** if you want to know more information about prom, ask the other people on the committee (feldman, jonny, enongo, topher, omar, krieger, ligouri, manuel, jabawwy, other…)

It’s pretty cool to see slope media content being picked up across the internets…

on a separate note…

If you want to know how and why slope media was started…

I highly suggest you check out an interview I did with Caitlin (current Slope Media president) and the Cornell Alumni Magazine, the interview is pretty long but it has all the details I’m to lazy to write about in there.

link: http://backup.slopemedia.org/media/content.php?t=Slope-Media-Interview

Also the audio is from the interviewers digital audio recorder so its not the best of quality

Slope Media & Online Content Distribution

This is really random but today in class I gave a presentation on online content distribution and my paper is based on how content spreads and a little bit on the recommendation engine I am working on you can find out more about it(recommendation system): http://backup.slopemedia.org/media/content.php?t=Slope-Media-Recommendation-Engine-(SMRE)

**** for more slope information, chat with caitlin, brandon, rabia, alex, max, ashley + others
