Though the Kardashians have been in the public eye for years, most people aren’t paying attention to their everyday lives. Only when they do something scandalous or ridiculous are we reminded that they are the family who builds careers on doing things that are, well, scandalous and ridiculous.
Even those who don’t care for the Kardashians probably know the infamous family from their TV show Keeping Up with the Kardashians. I’ll admit I’ve watched the occasional episode (or ten). But back in the day, I was honestly a real fan of the show – especially because of Kendall and Kylie. They were young and cool and didn’t seem all that concerned with the fame of their family. But that soon changed when they needed some sort of “accomplishment” to brag about and made a clothing line and wrote a book.
Their personal lives also took a turn. Kylie’s supposed plastic surgery and relationship with rapper Tyga were both questionable decisions. Meanwhile, Kendall is actually a successful model, but her lack of recent scandals means the public isn’t interested.

Naturally, it was time for the girls to get back in good favor with the public by releasing iPhone apps. If this sounds to you like another cry for fame, you’re not alone.
While I haven’t personally downloaded any of the apps, their descriptions make them sound identical, offering beauty tips, tutorials, live streaming videos, and reviews of their favorite products. They all claim to have a “focus” that reflects their different personalities – that is, Khloe chose fitness and Kendall went for modeling. So pick the sister you look up to most and you can be just like her.
…which is what users seem to have been doing. The day after the apps were released, Kylie’s topped the others as #1 on iTunes. Watch out Kim — your spotlight is being taken.

Part of the idea behind their apps was to move away from the negative feedback they were receiving on social media by avoiding them altogether. So ~modest~. But will the girls actually stop posting on Instagram and Twitter? Of course not. Many of the pictures they post on the apps of their outfits, accessories, and products will still be viewable on Instagram – for free.
Although the apps seem ridiculous to me, apparently thousands of people disagree. But I’m really not too surprised because this newest development isn’t the first outrageous move the Kardashians have made – and it certainly (and unfortunately) will not be the last.

So to the Kardashians (and everyone who still supports them): do less.
