Face Planting Into the Semester

Raise your hand if the first two weeks of class got the best of you.

We’ve all been there: whether it was failing a pop quiz on something we forgot to study or breaking a serious sweat sprinting from Physical Sciences to Plant Sciences. Let’s face it, the clocktower looks pretty big when you fall face first onto Ho Plaza and look up at it.

It’s inevitable that each and every one of us, during our time at Cornell, will take a ‘little’ tumble while walking on campus. Down the steps entering Balch? Check ✔ Walking up or down the Slope? Check ✔ While crossing the footbridge? Check ✔ Let’s not even think about what happens when it gets icy.

So, how about that time you meant to go to your Statistics lecture, but accidentally went to an Object Oriented Programming and Data Structures lecture? 55 minutes of pure confusion. And even after you made it through the class, you still had to figure out where your own was actually held.

Best case scenario? You find a desk in Mann during prime time that is close enough to Manndibles that you can go for a quick bite to eat or a cup of coffee. Worst case scenario? You get lost in Uris trying to find a desk. Word from the wise: as soon as  you see an open desk, just take it.

Extremely awkward and embarrassing moments happen to the best of us. Whether it’s getting lost in Olin or tripping in front of a tour group, it’s okay. We all survive. For now, let’s hope all the embarrassing missteps of the year are behind us. If not, we should at least promise to laugh at ourselves.
