Here in Taco Bell arena, we are almost done with the first half of the first of four games to be played. Despite Utah State basically playing a home game, Marquetee is the team that jumped out to an early lead. With 5 minutes to go in the first half, the Golden Eagles are leading the Aggies 23-11.
Jr. forward Lazar Hayward, a upstate New York native (Buffalo) is leading the way for the Golden Eagles with 10 points. For the Aggies, it is Jr. guard Jared Quayle with 6.
The Aggies are getting good looks at the basket, but are just unable to connect. They seem to be taking good shots, even open shots, but there is no love for the rim for the Aggies.
Utah State is giving Marquette different looks on the defensive end. They are switching between a 2-3 and a 3-2 one to try and limit the Golden Eagles. This plan has been to no avail so far.
However, there is a little life from the Aggie fan base. Utah State is currently on a 4-0 run and they are going wild. Thats right, only a 4-0 run. But these fans will take what they can get.
WAC player of the year, Gary Wilkinson for Utah State looks to be heating up. Lets see if he and the Aggies can make a late first half run to get back in this game before the start of the second half.
