Every summer, Cornellians return back home with an abundance of stories to share with their closest friends. From the gorges and cherry blossoms to Terrace and CTB, nothing can compete with our wonderful school. As we return to our hill above Cayuga’s waters, let’s take a moment to appreciate a few of our favorite things about O-Week…compared to what they’re like at home.

Sure – a day at the pool is always a blast, but nothing competes with Ithaca’s magnificent gorges. As a classic O-Week pastime, gorge swimming definitely wins because let’s face it, a waterfall is way better than a chlorinated pool.

We don’t take ice cream lightly. And when it comes to the greatest food in the world, Purity tops the charts. So if you have time this week definitely take a quick trip down – and trust us: you’ll want to make the time.

To be fair, almost anything beats a hot and crowded subway. Still, the view of Beebee Lake in the Fall will have you looking forward to your morning commute. Say “peace” to sweaty subways and “hey what’s up hello” to Ithaca’s natural beauty.

Pizza is pizza. Is it even possible to have a bad slice? But what makes CTP better than all the rest is the peace of mind that comes with the guarantee that at the end of a long night, a slice is just around the corner. Yes, it may very well be the main contributor to your freshman fifteen – but hey, do pizza calories even count?

Put down that plate of vegetables. No parents = no rules! This is your opportunity to eat as much ice cream, pizza, and cookies as you want. Bond with your new friends over RPCC mongol quesadillas, and hot subs from Appel because no one can stop you from eating whatever you want. You do you!

One of the greatest moments of every Freshman’s life is being able to walk into his or her dorm at whatever hour he or she would like. Whether it’s 11pm or 4am, you won’t have a curfew – and you can bring your pizza into bed with you.
When it comes down to it, Cornell is our home, and we could not be any more excited to return.
