Latin Single of the Week

This Week: Dance

Rain rain go away, and don’t come again some other day. With this dreadful rainy weather, most of us would agree there would be nothing better than some hot, bright sun. In light of this, I thought the perfect song would be, Don Omar’s “Hasta Que Salga El Sol.”

This fun song, which translates to “Until the Sun Rises,” is about partying and having a good time all night until the sun comes out. I like this song not only for its good beat, but because it reminds me of warm, relaxing, carefree summers. As the year progresses and the weather continues to be unpredictable, songs like this remind me that eventually the weather does clear up, and soon the stresses of tests and projects will be replaced with barbeques, parties, and get-togethers with friends.

Don Omar, a Puerto Rican singer/reggaetonero, got his start in 2003 with his album The Last Don. With hits such as “Danza Kuduro,” “Hasta Abajo,” and “Sexy Robotica” Don Omar’s career has been continuing to blossom. His original music had more of an “old style Reggaeton” feel to it, but now has a more pop and mainstream dance sound to it. I have to say, I like his newer style more. His appearance has also changed dramatically throughout the year. Again, I definitely like his newer look, but if you don’t take my word for it, decide for yourself.
