Electric Tickle Machine is darn New York—super skinny black clad and a shirtless drummer and long hair for everyone. Music: electro rock pop is the easy way out; otherwise check their myspace for something way too cool (in a good way). Some punk vibe, rock’n’roll, and a bit of surf kept everyone a-jivin’ with the lead tambourine man joining in with us sometimes. These guys were definitely one of my favorite bands I’ve seen lately. But even the Nines seemed a bit too aboveground for them. More like grungy club or house show. Also, their recordings on myspace or ElectricTickleMachine.com are awesome and kinda free. Followed by Ithaca College’s Caution Children. I’ve played several shows with them and we often exchange big hugs; rock’n’roll, catchy and jumpy, I <3 them. Their religious fans from both IC and Cornell turned out for yet another great performance. The old electric piano never fails, and great guitaring, drumming, bassing, and even saxophoning back the bearded singer with his megaphone and a beer. My one concern was that I was giddy as a schoolgirl and quite possibly a tool… but it’s cool. I missed BLOW!, but I’ve played with them before as well and can give you the lowdown. Two guys with various guitars and effects loop on layers over electric drums for a mellow dancing mood. Their gigs all over the area are totally worth checking out. Oh, btw, this show was at the Nines on Saturday, 3.6.10. LET’S JUST HAVE FUN! SamBam
