Frozen Purple Cow

Episode 2.7: The Same but Different

Hello from the cornfield! What’s up this week? How ’bout some tunes ’bout… hmmm. It’s semi complicated to explain this week’s theme, but I will try. When someone says cow– what is the first image that comes to mind? Do you picture a black & white demon twenty times larger than yourself cowering over you as you prepare yourself to get stepped on by its hoofs and face-blasted by its swinging udder? or do you picture a cute and cuddly stuffed animal sitting in the toy store window? or do you recall the pungent perfume of manure and the loud rumbles of moos and the strange aliens that seemed to spend all day standing around in mud and be in the same position as you drove back from visiting your grandmother in the countryside? My definition of a cow was not on that list (thankfully), but case in point, the word “cow” has a strict dictionary definition (I invite you to go to Merriam Webster online if you so desire) and many other interpretations. This past week, I played songs that all had the same title, but each artist interpreted it in various ways. The same but different. But I hope we agree that milk is delicious. Note: Cow Parade visits Madrid!
