The 19 Things That Happen When You Open Your Acceptance Letter

Slope Media wants to give the Class of 2019 a big, hearty welcome to Cornell! Feels pretty good to bleed Big Red, doesn’t it? Here’s how we imagine the emotional roller coaster ride went:

1) Happiness. Sheer happiness.

Let’s be real, this may be one of the happiest moments of your life (don’t worry, we all did a little dance too).

 

2) You freak out a little.

If you don’t sound like Janice from Friends, did you really get accepted?

 

3) “Hallelujah.”

And in this moment, you are grateful.

 

4) You call every single person you know.

Yes, your great aunt Judy needs to hear the news, too.

 

5) …then you cry.

6) And you cry a little more.

7) Finally, you calm down. You are at peace, if but for a moment.

 

8) “WAIT.”

 

9) “Did I really get in?”

(You proceed to reread your acceptance letter; the internet is, of course, super slow at this point.)

 

10) Huge sigh of relief: you are, indeed, a Cornell student.

 

11) So you walk outside and high five everyone you see.

 

12) Then everyone in your family starts crying.

Well this is awkward…

 

13) Sure, you’re a little sad that you have to leave home…

*There’s no place like home*

 

14) …but then you celebrate more!

Confetti is a must.

 

15) You start to buy TONS of Cornell apparel.

Water bottle: add to cart. Shorts: add to cart. Sweatshirt, fleece, and a hat: add to cart.

 

16) You research anything and everything Cornell-related.

 

17) You proceed to share every small fact you have just learned.

 

18) You’re smiling because you’re a superstar. You’ve just accomplished something amazing!

 

19) And by the end of the night, you’re dreaming sweet, Big Red dreams.
