The New Dining Option You Won’t Want to Miss

Author: Kelly Webb

“New year, new me” is my mantra of choice as I enter the doors of my ever familiar Trillium. I’m feeling pretty confident about getting back on track with a leafier diet, and forgetting the boxes of CTP that I inhaled over the short course of O-Week. I have pure intentions of entering the salad line… when something new catches my eye.

Where the “365” dining option once stood–the line known to be the shortest, the road less taken when you’re in a hurry–seems to be packed. A new line? My eyes travel to the sign above the madness: Pasta. My heart says yes, my body says no. Regardless, Selena Gomez sings through my iPhone headphones; the heart wants what it wants.

Give me the cheesy goodness.

Hard to miss is the new BRB dining option of pasta. With options of linguini, penne, and tortellini (linguini available gluten-free), this  new lunchtime choice  in Trillium makes standing in line for salad increasingly difficult.

You want to make the argument that you’re really craving that chicken sandwich from the grill? Fine, but let me mention that you have the choice of chicken and/or sausage with this wonderful bowl of carbohydrate deliciousness. And, realistically, no bun can compare  to the breadstick offered on the side with this delicious dish. Hence my quick no to the choice of baguette, as I watched my server layer sauteed veggies onto the steaming tortellini of my pasta bowl.

You’re not in the mood for the generic marinara sauce you could swipe for at a dining hall? Fine, don’t settle- set your standards higher with the alternatives of alfredo or pesto. Or spice it up and get a combination of sauces. In the end, you can still do some justice and make the right choice by including their option of sauteed vegetables. Besides, bikini season is over; bring on the sweater weather.

At the same price as a salad, it’s definitely more bang for your big red buck and bound to keep you fuller for longer.  As I swipe away the beginning of my BRBs, Miss Libby gives me a knowing look. The real question of my day is no longer what I’m getting for lunch, but whether I can wait for five minutes before chowing down and hope that a foodstagram with this heavenly bowl is worthy enough to get me five minutes of fame on @GirlswithGluten.
