Trendy Diets People Might Actually Enjoy

Author: Alanna Fichtel

With Spring Break over and summer right around the corner, now is usually that time of year when we hear about crazy fad diets people are using to lose weight. But while in the past no-carb diets and juice cleanses were all the rage, today’s diets have a very different appearance.

You may remember hearing about the girl who only ate pizza for a week and lost 5 pounds, or the chef who has now lost 100 pounds by eating just pizza. Enter the pizza diet.

Those who don’t understand how pizza is really a vegetable will say it isn’t exactly the healthiest meal. But this diet can work because you’re actually consuming fewer calories than normal, and cutting out added sugar.

For pizza lovers like myself, this sounds like a piece of cake pizza. But even I’m not sure I could eat CTP for every meal for a week straight. Eating greasy pizza 3 times every day will definitely take a toll on your stomach. So you’ll have to decide if you’re up for the challenge.

A similar new diet that sounds pretty sweet is the ice cream diet. No, Purity and pints of Ben and Jerry’s don’t count. But the new brand Halo Top is purported to be healthy ice cream that actually tastes good.

One tester of this diet lost 10 pounds in 10 days. The secret behind this diet also has to do with consuming less calories, but the protein packed into this brand of ice cream makes up for it.

While I can’t attest to the taste or success of the diet, Halo Top is sold at Wegmanns, so get ready for a brain freeze.

Say goodbye to the juice cleanse and hello to tacos. These two women, or “taco scientists,” wrote a book after eating only tacos for breakfast, lunch and dinner for 30 days straight, introducing the Taco Cleanse. This diet is more of a traditional, “healthy” diet than the two described above in that it is completely vegan.

While you have to eat tacos for every meal, there are no beverage restrictions (tacos and tequila Tuesdays!?) It’s not a weight loss plan, but is a way to help you detox and feel your best. So when you’re friends judge you for going to Dos Amigos every night of the weekend, just tell them you’re on a diet.

So if you’ve been trying to get started on a diet but can’t commit, one of these might be for you. And if you’re not into dieting–life’s too short to diet anyway.
