This week I want to take a step back from talking about wines directly, and discuss ice cream. In case you don’t know, Wines and Vines is located in Stocking Hall, the big building with a statue of a milk bottle outside and the same building that houses the Cornell Dairy Bar.

While being located so far away on campus is a most definitely a curse, being in the exact same building (and right down the hall) from the Dairy Bar has been both a blessing and a curse. While it does provide me and my other classmates a source of food since we are so far away from Trillium and Terrace, it also gives unrestricted access to amazing ice cream. The Dairy Bar, if you have never been there before, sells Cornell Dining’s homemade ice cream, amazing sandwiches, and great coffees and teas. It smells ahhhh-mazing, and is oh-so-tempting. There’s nothing like sitting down after a stressful week and enjoying some creamy ice cream am I right?

Wine, of course, pairs well with any dessert. From personal experience, ice cream is no exception. With every class, I find myself more and more drawn to the Dairy Bar’s tempting treats. Of course, wine has a lot of sugar and so does ice cream…so naturally,my sugar intake has been at an all time high as of late. This unfortunately means I need to hit the gym more than ever before, but truthfully it’s a small price to pay.
Other than the ice cream, the Dairy Bar also sells amazing sandwiches. One of my personal favorites is the pork barbacoa sandwich; 10/10 would recommend. Pair that with a fine wine, you have a perfect match–albeit for those with a more complex palate, but delicious nonetheless.

Overall, I am thankful to the Dairy Bar for providing us with food when we’re out here in Nam, (a.k.a. Stocking Hall) but also a bit resentful because of the fact that I have #noragrets about having access to both ice cream and wine every Tuesday and Thursday.
