A devoted father to his family!
Unfortunately, our society is constantly facing tragedies these days. Young people are rebelling, and many adults are poor role models. The story of this father, Kwon Young-jun, gives us hope that there are still remarkable people among us!
Originally from Seoul, South Korea, his job brought him to Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. There, he met Sukanya, a beauty influencer, and they started a family together. Last year, the couple became the parents of an adorable little girl. Every day, this father works hard to support his wife and child!
It was supposed to be an ordinary day for Kwon, but tragedy struck suddenly. On March 28, a magnitude 7.7 earthquake hit Myanmar, formerly known as Burma. The tremors were so strong that buildings in Bangkok collapsed, despite the epicenter being over 1,000 km away!
A frantic race amid the ruins!
As soon as he felt the tremors, Kwon immediately thought of his family’s safety. He was in the Park Origin Thonglor condominium complex. His wife and daughter were in a nearby building, just a bridge away!
The problem was that the earthquakes had caused the building and the pedestrian bridge to start cracking. The father had to make a quick decision, or it would be too late. Without hesitation, he took a leap to jump across the gap!
When he reached his apartment, Kwon found no one there. His wife and daughter had already left the building and moved to a shelter below. He continued his sprint and raced down the 40 flights of stairs in no time. Fortunately, the three of them were able to reunite outside the building!
A father turned national hero!
On social media, someone managed to capture Kwon’s daring leap in hopes of joining his family. Unsurprisingly, millions of people viewed the footage showing this brave father. Everyone began to congratulate him, with some even calling him the “ultimate dad”.
The father said: “I had to go take care of my wife and daughter. The concrete had broken partially at that moment, and I heard a loud bang after jumping over. After that, I kept running without looking back, thinking only of my family.”
This story demonstrates that with love and courage, we can overcome all obstacles. Kwon explained that “instinct took over and he jumped over the buildings.” They are currently living temporarily with Sukanya’s parents. Let’s hope they can return to their home soon!
