Drinking Together

To find this answer, they conducted a study involving 2,767 couples who have been married for an average of 33 years. After interviewing them, they concluded that “couples who drink have a less negative marital life over time.”

However, the scientists emphasized an important distinction. The quantity of alcohol consumed isn’t significant in this process. What matters more is sharing the experience of drinking together, thus allowing for quality time.

“We are not suggesting that people should drink more or change their drinking habits. We are unsure of the exact reason, but it could be that spending leisure time together leads to better marital satisfaction for couples,” stated Dr. Kira Birditt from the University of Michigan.

Quantity of Alcohol Doesn’t Matter

Indeed, enjoying drinks allows for a shared moment, whether it’s with a partner, friends, or family.

Even in moderation, this act brings people closer together, as it tends to create a more relaxed atmosphere where individuals are likely to talk, laugh, and connect. The goal is truly to be one-on-one with your partner and enjoy the moment, without risking overindulgence.

So, all that’s left is for you to grab a drink each and settle in with your loved one. Of course, be mindful to drink responsibly.
