A TikToker Recites the Quran in a Church
FobusTikTok, a Muslim influencer with over 600,000 followers, recently sparked a heated controversy on social media. Dressed in a qamis, a long tunic deeply rooted in Arab culture, he filmed himself reciting verses from the Quran in the Saint-Pierre-le-Jeune Church in Strasbourg.
After a few minutes, a parishioner present in the church approached him for clarification. As seen in the video below, she then requested that he leave, believing his recitation was a disrespectful act in this space intended for Catholic worship. However, he refused, insisting that he was within his rights and not doing anything wrong.
Reactions Emerge
Following the release of the video featuring FobusTikTok, reactions quickly flooded social media. Many users criticized the influencer, describing his actions as highly inappropriate.
“What audacity”, “In the period of Ramadan and Lent, this is even more unacceptable” can be read on the social media platform X, while another user stated, “I am Muslim, and there is nothing to defend here; it’s just provocation (…)”. In your opinion, did the influencer go too far? We look forward to your thoughts!
