OUR DEPARTMENTS

MAGAZINE

The Slope Magazine department is a place to share creativity, pitch ideas, and write articles! Whether you’re new to writing or you’ve been writing for years, you have a spot on our team. We brainstorm, we write, and we edit. This is a place for your light-hearted pieces about Cornell fun facts and there’s also a place for op-eds, or journalistic pieces.

DESIGN

Our design team creates various graphic materials for Slope Media including quarter cards, social media posts, and our semester print magazine. No prior design experience is required — you can work alongside other creative Cornell students to develop your design skills!

MARKETING

Slope Media’s Marketing Department offers members a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in experiential learning and develop their marketing skills. The department consists of two divisions which member equally participate in: an events-planning component and a social media component. The meetings for the marketing department involve creative workshops to develop familiarity with skills in using Canva/advertisement, content calendars, social media analytics, and more.

Television

The Slope Media TV Team writes, films, directs, and edits videos for the Slope YouTube channel! We create a ton of fun Cornell-related videos, and collaborate with a myriad of other groups on campus. Slope TV members also write articles about film and television-related topics. No prior film experience is necessary to join, just an interest in all things TV, film, and Cornell!

music

The Slope Music department does everything that has to do with music. We make Spotify/Apple Music playlists centered around holidays, themes, eras, moods., etc. We write articles about local/student artists, concerts around the Ithaca area, politics in music, your favorite vinyl records, favorite new releases, news about musicians, pop culture, anything that you can think of that involves music or musical artists. Even if you don’t feel like writing but want to make new friends who love music, this is the place for you!

Photography

The photography department is focused on providing relevant and interesting visual accompaniment for our articles, both online and in print. If there’s an event on campus or in the Ithaca-area that’s pertinent to the lives of Cornell students, we’re likely there taking pictures! We are currently working on expanding our staff to keep up with the growth of our staff of writers. All levels of photography-expertise are welcome.
