Men’s Soccer Takes on Brown University

Saturday, October 22, the Men’s Soccer Team took on Brown University. The fans came out in record numbers in order to “Break the Berman Record.” Successfully creating a new record, the fans cheered on the Big Red as Brown came out strong int eh first half. Cornell fought back, with an goal from sophomore Stephen Reisert in the opening minutes of the second half. However, Brown replied with a goal of their own, sending the game into two overtimes. Men’s Ice Hockey Exhibition Vs. Guelph

The Cornell Men’s Hockey team took the Ice on October 21st in this year’s home opener and exhibition against Guelph. A tough, physical match-up, the Big Red came out with a 3 – 2 victory.

Big Red Talk-Cornell Men’s Soccer

Big Red Talk got a chance to sit down with Cornell men’s soccer coach Jaro Zawislan. After taking over a team that finished 1-15 in 2008, Zawislan has guided the Big Red to an 8-1-3 record in 2011, and the team’s first 3-0 start to Ivy League play in over 25 years. The Big Red beat Yale 2-0 Saturday to increase their lose-less streak to 11 games. The Big Red are atop the Ivy standings with five games remaining, and have not lost since losing to Niagara in their season opener Sept. 2.

Big Red Talk-Cornell Women’s Hockey Interview Series

Big Red Talk sat down with Cornell senior forward Catherine White to discuss the upcoming women’s hockey season as part of an interview series. White discusses the team’s goals, as well as the upcoming exhibition against Brampton, which will feature current and former players from the Canadian National Team. The Big Red host Brampton this Friday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m., and play their first official home game Friday, Oct. 28 against Yale.

Sprint Football Dominates in 49-7 Win Over Princeton

After a loss to Post University, Cornell Sprint Football bounced back in a win over Princeton (0-3). Quarterback Brendan Miller completed 13 of 15 pass attempts for a total of 211 yards and 4 touchdowns, one week after missing the game against Post with a concussion. The Big Red (2-1) hosts Army this Friday at 7 p.m.

Big Red Talk-women’s hockey interview series: Coach Doug Derraugh

Big Red Talk sat down with Cornell women’s ice hockey coach Doug Derraugh to discuss the upcoming season and his recent role as an assistant coach for the Canada National Team staff, a team which includes four Cornell players. The season starts with an exhibition Friday, Oct. 14 against Brampton, and the first official home game of the season will be against Yale on Friday, Oct. 28. The Big Red have made it to two consecutive Frozen Fours, including a National Runner-up finish in 2010.

Cornell avenges last season’s loss in win over Wagner

The Cornell Big Red avenged last season’s loss to Wagner (1-4) with a 31-7 win Saturday afternoon at Schoellkopf Field. Shane Savage caught two touchdown passes, and quarterback Jeff Mathews passed for 197 yards on three touchdown passes, as well as scored on a rushing touchdown. The Big Red (2-1, 0-1 Ivy League) defense recorded eight team sacks, the second-highest total in program history and highest since recording a record 10 sacks at Harvard in 1992. The Big Red host Harvard next Saturday, Oct. 8 at 12:30 p.m.
